BATIK in fashion  week

In 2009, UNESCO’s Cultural Heritage Committee officially designated Indonesian batik as an “Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity”.

Batik Fashion Week

is here to promote an iconic historical fabric of human civilisation.

The event comprises a series of fashion shows and art installations. The fashion shows feature casual, formal and high-fashion collections by local designers — all made of hand-stamped or hand-drawn batik textiles.

There is a strong belief the fashion shows can encourage Indonesia's youth to learn more about handmade batik and preserve the tradition.
